The Hot Shots Tennis program makes learning tennis super accessible and, most importantly, fun. Forget the huge court and heavy racquets you remember from your own childhood. Hot Shots scales everything down, transforming the game into something perfectly suited for little champions.
It all starts with the Blue stage for ages three to five. At this point, it’s all about developing key movement skills. Kids are running, jumping, and throwing—all the great coordination building blocks they need! Then we move to the Red stage, where those aged five to eight start hitting real (but soft!) red balls on smaller courts.
Next up is the Orange stage for 8-to-10-year-olds. They are introduced to bigger courts and some exciting game tactics. Finally, the Green stage is for the ten-plus crowd. This stage prepares them for the full game with lighter, lower-bouncing green balls. Every child learns at their own pace. It’s a wonderful progression that builds their confidence step by step.
Parents will love the practical side, too. Sessions are available all over the ACT and are typically short—around 30 to 60 minutes. This is perfect for maintaining attention spans and fitting into busy family schedules. Many local clubs even let you borrow a racquet to start. It’s an easy commitment to try out!
Famberra tip: Hot Shots is often supported by the ACT Government’s sporting programs. Make sure you check out the Every Chance voucher details!
Getting your kids active and helping them make friends is truly priceless. Why not give your local Hot Shots program a try? It’s truly the best way to get your kids swinging into a lifelong love of tennis.
