The Australian Ballet is touring, and they are bringing a perfect slice of magic right to the ACT. Get ready to introduce your littlest loves to the wonder of ballet! Their famous production, Storytime Ballet: The Nutcracker, is landing at the Canberra Theatre Centre early next year.

This is not your average, long-winded performance. In fact, this show is specially designed for children aged three and up. It’s an interactive experience built entirely around keeping small audience members captivated. The production runs for just 50 minutes. That short runtime is ideal for even the wriggliest toddler!

The beloved festive fairytale comes to life beautifully. It features Clara, her magical nutcracker doll, and a trip to the enchanting Land of Sweets. Importantly, the performance is led by a super engaging narrator. They help guide the audience through the story so everyone can follow along easily.

The best part? Kids are absolutely encouraged to join in the fun! Little ones can dress up in their favourite costumes or ballet-inspired outfits. They are also warmly invited to dance right in their seats. This active participation makes it a truly memorable family activity. It’s a wonderful way to spark their creativity. Maybe this show will inspire Canberra’s next prima ballerina!

Mark your calendars now. Storytime Ballet: The Nutcracker will be pirouetting into The Playhouse at the Canberra Theatre Centre. You can catch the magic from 8–11 January 2026. Tickets are available now.

This is definitely one of the biggest and brightest kid-friendly activities hitting Canberra this summer. It makes for a gorgeous family outing or even the perfect holiday gift. Get ready for a sugar plum spectacular!
