Cockington Green Gardens is already a must-see for families in Canberra. But get ready for some super-sized excitement in the world of miniatures! A brand new, miniature steam train is about to chug its way onto the track.

Meet “Douglas William,” a beautiful replica of the classic John Fowler Bunyip design. This brand new locomotive is gearing up to officially launch and take its first passengers on Saturday, December 6th 2025. You won’t want to miss the big debut!

The team at Cockington Green is throwing a wonderful launch party! From 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the day will be packed with fun, especially for the little ones. Think Christmas-themed magic, lively roving entertainment, fantastic balloon twisting, and festive music filling the air. Even Santa Claus himself is making a special appearance. It truly sounds like a perfect family day out.

Furthermore, the deals are just as exciting as the train. To celebrate the launch, entry fees on December 6th are reduced by a fantastic 20%. Plus, train rides are only $2! That’s right, a tiny price for a big adventure.

And here is the best part: all proceeds from the train rides go directly to The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. It’s fun that truly gives back to the community.

This incredible $2 ride offer continues all the way up until Christmas, so there’s plenty of time to visit. Of course, don’t forget the main attraction: the incredible miniature displays from around the world and the stunning gardens.

So, pack your bags and get ready to climb aboard Douglas William for a memorable, charitable, and fun-filled family trip right here in the ACT.
