The spectacular Yarralumla Bay Extravaganza is coming back to Lake Burley Griffin. It’s an annual community day hosted by the wonderful YMCA Sailing Club. Best of all? Most of the fun is completely free!
This extravaganza is a celebration of everything our iconic lake has to offer. The focus is definitely on getting the whole family out onto the water.
For the little sailors in your crew, there are Hourly Sailing Mini-Classes. These quick lessons run from 9:00 am until noon. They are perfect for dipping a toe into the world of sailing without any commitment.
Youngsters can also join the special Kids-in-Sharpies Experience. This dedicated session is ideal for beginner or intermediate young sailors to build confidence. It’s a great way to learn new skills in a safe environment.
Perhaps paddling is more your family’s style? You are in luck! The event also offers Free Kayak and Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Hire. You can grab a board or a boat and head out for a peaceful glide across the calm bay waters.
It’s perfect for a relaxing family outing. All equipment is provided, so you just need to bring your enthusiasm.
But the fun doesn’t stop on the water. On the shore, the day buzzes with activity. The local Scouts will be firing up the BBQ. You can grab some tasty snacks for lunch. Plus, keep an eye out for prizes being given away throughout the morning.
